The tales of the Ottori! One of my favourite books, it's a trilogy and it's amazing! Set in Japan... just love it! It's supposed to be for older readers but Oh Well!
Also The Chronilces of Narnia (of course)
The Illustrated Mum, I don't know how many times I've read that book.

The Tales of the Ottori sounds good. I've never heard of it, but I love Japan, so it sounds interesting. What is it about?

This boy lives in a quiet village with his parents and siblings. it's their religion not to kill anyone even when their life is in danger, so when their village is attacked they die. He's the only survivor and then is chased by the attackers, but is saved. He then finds out that his real dad was a tribesman (not the one who died) and that they can do some sort of magic.. he has to learn to be a warrior and so on and so fourth... they also talk about this very very pretty girl who was held captive since the age of eight and is then 14 or 16 (can't remember) she is released and has to go back to her land.. don't want to give too much away! Really good story though.
